Thanksgiving is a great day for food.
Remember to think about...
try smaller portion sizes,
use a smaller plate,
Divide your plate in 4 (1) protein, (2) Fiber (3) vegetables (4) healthy fats
Lean turkey, 1/4 of your plate
1/4 of your plate with sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, stuffing.
half of your plate should have lots of colors and non starchy vegetables.
Healthy fats would be advocados, cook with OEVOO, (organic extra virgin Olive oil)
After eating, but before sitting down or starting chores and cleaning up, gather everyone and take a 10-15 minute walk. This will give you more energy to handle the dishes.
Walking aids in digestion and prevents you from nibbling on more food.
As we express gratitude for our health and the presence of each other in our lives, remember that things could be worse. Take the time to acknowledge others, as we all have feelings. During the holidays, we often think of those who are no longer with us, and the sight of an empty chair can be quite sorrowful. However, this year, instead of feeling sad, be thankful for the times they were part of your life and cherish that relationship, as it remains a part of our hearts.
